Brand Case

Oslo, 10 December 2024 - Trimco Group is thrilled to announce the collaboration with Kezzler and Viking Outdoor Footwear on an initiative poised to reshape sustainability and traceability in the footwear industry. Together, the three companies are implementing Digital Product Passports (DPPs) in select styles from Viking’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection — a move that reinforces Viking’s commitment to innovation and sustainable practices.

This marks the second project between Trimco Group and Kezzler since solidifying their strategic partnership. By combining Kezzler's cutting-edge traceability technology with Trimco Group’s extensive labeling and supply chain expertise, the partnership delivers end-to-end solutions tailored to industry needs.

A Step Forward in Transparency and Sustainability

By adopting DPPs, Viking Outdoor Footwear is setting new standards in transparency, preparing for upcoming regulations, and unlocking innovative opportunities in sustainability and customer engagement. Kezzler’s GS1 Digital Link-enabled QR codes, coupled with Trimco Group’s expertise, allow Viking to seamlessly integrate digital product IDs into their value chain.

Testing the use of DPPs in our footwear and apparel lines through unique QR code labels in GS1’s Digital Link format is changing the way we see data management and the possibilities to communicate with our customers,” said Elin Carlsen, Head of Sustainability at Viking Outdoor Footwear AS. “DPP places new expectations on data handling in our value chain, but it also opens exciting new opportunities for our repair & take care strategy. Kezzler and Trimco Group brings end-to-end solutions that align perfectly with our DPP objectives.”

For Trimco Group, the project represents a pivotal step in aligning product lifecycle management with compliance and sustainable practices,” said Camilla Mjelde, Compliance & Sustainability Director at Trimco Group. “We’re thrilled to collaborate with Viking, a brand that’s woven into Norway’s heritage. Starting early on DPP preparations empowers Viking to maximize the many benefits that DPP brings and puts the brand ahead in the industry.

The collaboration not only ensures Viking stays ahead of traceability requirements but also reinforces the brand’s reputation as a sustainability leader in the footwear sector.

The Benefits of Digital Product Passports

The implementation of DPPs unlocks vital advantages for Viking, benefiting the brand, its customers, and the broader value chain:

  • Regulatory Compliance and Transparency -DPPs ensure Viking is fully prepared to meet upcoming regulations, while providing consumers with easy access to comprehensive product data.
  • Stronger Customer Connections - Via QR codes on product labels, Viking fosters deeper engagement by offering customers instant visibility into product origins and sustainability practices.
  • Enhanced Brand Trust - Verifiable information bolsters consumer confidence in Viking’s product authenticity and commitment to responsible sourcing.
  • Circular Economy Alignment - Supporting repair and care strategies through DPP functionality promotes sustainability and strengthens Viking’s circular economy initiatives.

As the DPP regulation continues to evolve, Kezzler and Trimco Group are committed to delivering a scalable, digital-first approach that exemplifies how brands can integrate sustainability, compliance, and innovation,” Camilla added.
