Trimco Group launches PaperMark - plastic-free RFID inlay series, reinforcing its commitment to RFID and sustainable solutions
A bold step towards sustainability: reducing environmental impact while enhancing operational efficiency with paper-based RFID inlays
October 2024 – Established trims, packaging, RFID*, and variable data solutions provider Trimco Group today announces the launch of its exclusive new FSC™-certified (FSC C137962), recyclable, and plastic-free RAIN RFID inlay** series – Trimco Group PaperMark. The inlays replace the PET substrate usually used in the RFID inlays with an FSC™-certified paper substrate.
RFID technology has been transforming industries by offering unparalleled visibility into inventory and supply chain operations for years, but PET-based RFID inlays, usually used for this purpose, can also have a very high negative impact on the environment. A recent Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) conducted by an independent lab compared a paper-based inlay to a PET-based inlay, showing an overall improved offset for the paper-based inlay.
The innovative Trimco Group PaperMark inlays series, available for Apparel and Home Goods, has been exclusively designed, developed, and produced by Trimco Group in a successful collaboration with leading technology solution providers. They are constructed free of a PET carrier and assembled with an antenna and chip on an FSC™-certified, recyclable paper face, marking a step towards reducing waste and plastic consumption. Importantly, the inlay series has been enrolled in the ARC Quality certification program under Auburn University RFID Lab, a testament to quality.
In addition to Impinj M700 tag chips, Trimco Group's PaperMark inlay is also available in the Impinj M800 tag chip series, ideal for textiles and home goods, among other use cases. With the compact size and improved read sensitivity of the Impinj M800 series chips, our end customers can streamline their tag supply chain. And with a 1.5 dB read sensitivity enhancement, the chips are readable from greater distances offering enhanced supply chain visibility. Impinj’s advanced tag chips aid in asset management and manufacturing processes, allowing for efficient item tagging and simplifying complex operations across the products our customers make and sell.
“Congratulations to Trimco on their successful launch of new Impinj M800 series-based inlays,” said Martin Liebl, Impinj’s senior director of endpoint IC product management. “Trimco Group is a valued Impinj partner, and we’re thrilled to work closely with them to deliver solutions that help our shared end customers achieve market-leading supply chain visibility and efficiency.”

* Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is an advanced technology that uses electromagnetic fields to automatically identify and track tagged items. In the textile industry, it helps inventory management by providing real-time stock visibility, ensuring accurate counts, and reducing discrepancies. RFID minimizes labor costs and enhances accuracy by automating counts, while also streamlining supply chain operations with precise data from production to retail.
Effective RFID implementation relies on strong variable data management, an area where Trimco Group excels. They offer expertise in advising on the best setup for source tagging to fully optimize RFID technology benefits, ensuring textile companies operate more efficiently and competitively.
**An RFID inlay is a small component made up of a microchip and an antenna embedded on a flexible substrate. The microchip holds data, and the antenna enables communication with RFID readers. In the textile industry, RFID inlays are embedded in garment tags, allowing for efficient tracking and inventory management throughout the supply chain.
